Enterobacteriaceae
Enterobacteriaceae, zur Klasse der gramnegativen Eubakterien gehörende Familie fakultativ anaerober, peritrich begeißelter Stäbchen. Der Darmsymbiont Escherichia coli ist ein Indikator für Wasserverschmutzung durch Fäkalien und dient in der Molekularbiologie als Modellsystem. Pathogen sind z.B. Shigella (Ruhr und Diarrhoe), Salmonella typhi (Typhus), S. paratyphi (Paratyphus) und S. typhimurium (»Nahrungsmittelvergiftung«).
