repetitive DNA, sich im Genom von Eukaryoten häufig wiederholende Nucleotidsequenzen. Hochrepetitive Sequenzen wiederholen sich zwischen 105- und 106-mal im Genom; sie enthalten keine genetische Information. Von den mittelrepetitiven Sequenzen mit einem Wiederholungsgrad zwischen 102 und 105 enthalten manche genetische Information, andere wie z.B. sogenannte Spacer sind nicht informativ. Die nichtinformative repetitive DNA hat z.T. strukturelle und regulatorische Funktionen.
